Matias has been attending the Compassion center since he was six years old, and his sponsor is a very important person in his life thanks to their letters and prayers.<\/h2>\n

<\/h2>\n

A few hours have passed since sunset. Ten-year-old Mat\u00edas rests in his hut while the wind rattles the metal sheets of the roof. It will be a cold night<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As he gets ready for bed, he asks his mother, \u201cIs it possible for someone who lives far away to pray for you? My sponsor says in their letters that they always pray for me\".<\/strong>\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cOf course! There are people who give a lot of love to others!<\/em>\u201d replies his mother, Tatiana.<\/p>\n

Courage in Difficult Times<\/h2>\n

Cuando Tatiana inscribi\u00f3 a Mat\u00edas en el centro Compassion hace seis a\u00f1os, no sab\u00eda lo significativa que ser\u00eda la relaci\u00f3n con su patrocinador.<\/p>\n

<\/h2>\n

\u201cFrom the very beginning, he wondered if he would receive letters like the ones his friends were getting. I still remember when he got his first letter. He was so excited!\u201d<\/em> she recalls.<\/p>\n

Matias\u2019 father left when Tatiana became pregnant. \u201cThose years were very hard. I\u2019m very grateful to the center: they helped both Matias and me, and they still do,\u201d<\/em> she says.<\/p>\n

The Compassion center is a great source of help, encouragement, and hope for Mat\u00edas and his mother. \u00ab\u201cWhat I like most about going to the center is learning about God, receiving letters from my sponsor, and reading that they pray for me,\u201d<\/strong>\u00bb<\/em> he says.<\/p>\n

Tatiana always attends the parent meetings held at the center: \u00ab\u201cI always feel encouraged when the pastor shares from the Bible<\/strong>. He talks about family and how we should persevere and trust in God.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition to spiritual encouragement, Tatiana and Matias receive support through countless food parcels, home visits, and school supplies. Tatiana also attends a sewing workshop where she is learning to make traditional clothing.<\/p>\n

Growing Up in Love and Faith<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m grateful for everything, especially because Matias is learning about God and has a special person in his life. I want my son to grow up to be a good man and to love God. \u00a0I\u2019m thankful that, thanks to his sponsor, he can attend the Compassion center<\/strong>\u00bb<\/em,\u201d says Tatiana.<\/p>\n

Matias enjoys drawing pictures for his sponsor, as his favorite subject at school is art. \u201cI love making drawings and writing to them. I tell them what life is like here and what I do, but I get even more excited when they write back,\u201d<\/em> explains Matias.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a mother, I am grateful that someone so far away keeps my son in their prayers<\/strong>. It blesses his life, makes him happy, and that also makes me happy,\u201d says Tatiana.<\/em><\/p>\n

Life isn\u2019t easy for this family, but the burden feels lighter when we can offer support. The Compassion center and the people who help Mat\u00edas continue to make a difference in his life, and Tatiana trusts in a better future for him. They know they are not alone<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I feel sad for my son when he asks about his father. But even though he doesn\u2019t know his real father, God has placed wonderful people in his life, including his sponsor<\/strong>,\u201d adds his mother.<\/em><\/p>\n

Matias is a smart, mature, and cheerful boy. He knows that he and his family will never lack anything because God is by their side.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Bible passage I like most, which I learned at the Compassion center, is Psalm 23<\/strong>. I know that God takes care of us today and will do so in the future<\/strong>,\u201d he says, smiling.<\/em><\/p>\n
